1). Captain Hook and Ladder (6-1)
Ellis is 6-1 for the third time in his career on the back of Todd Gurley who is having the 4th best ever start to a fantasy season no matter the position. Shame on everyone else for not trading for him this offseason. I was curious about the Conner/Fournette deal as figured Steve may need to save that ammo in the bidding wars that may be coming at the trade deadline. Sony getting hurt is a blow but Kerryon has popped so he slids right in there.
2). I Am Rory (5-2)
Josh has won 5 straight after his terrible start. The first round of the draft could not have worked better for him as he ended up with Saquon and Kareem, both more valuable than LeVeon/AB/Dalvin/Leonard that were all taken on either side of him. If he wants the title he must find a WR, but the problem is there might not be any on the market any time soon. Great decision to pick up all the QBs to force Schindler’s hand in their big matchup for the BYE this week.
3). Yarvard U (6-1)
While this is not the 3rd best roster in the BBC, winning games is what is most important. Schindler rises in the rankings due to everyone else around him losing and now he has a realistic path to the 2nd BYE if he beats Josh this week. Outside of Grant/Justin, he still has the worst RBs in the BBC and Mixon does not look like he’s going to be available. Not much he can do right now to get better for the playoffs. Perhaps he would consider trading a WR for a second tier back?
4). Grande Se Cador (4-3)
With Melvin out this week, Tom laid an egg. He desperately needs LeVeon to come back and be productive as he’s missing a solid second RB. Thielen continues to light the world on fire. Tom has yet to make a trade this year, will he be active at the deadline?
5). Dixie Normous (3-4)
Alex found a way to win this week thanks to the Rams D scoring 24. This team has all the talent but can’t find a way to put it all together in the same week. Everyone is rooting for him to lose so they can feast on his players, but I don’t see that happening any time soon if at all. He is guaranteed to be tied for the final playoff spot with a win this week over Justin. He needs Ingram to step up, and while the volume has been there through 2 weeks, the efficiency has not been.
6). The Cluster Screw (4-3)
We all rave about Alex’s WRs being the best in the league, but Earl in my opinion is giving him a run for his money with the emergence of Alshon. Alshon is high end WR2, with low end WR1 upside the rest of the way, combined with two top 5 talents in AB and Hopkins puts him right there with Alex. McCaffrey is the biggest issue right now as he has not posted RB1 numbers the past 2 weeks. Earl finally realized he needs to start AP, but it seems like Earl always has a tough flex decision each week.
7). Nick HAD a Chubb (4-3)
What a terrible decision for Shula to drop Nick Chubb for no reason whatsoever. Chubb and Crabtree were dropped as part of the 2-for-1 deal with Josh and Shula was only required to drop 1 player. So Chubb was dropped and he left a roster spot vacant for an entire week. He then added Andy Dalton to fill that space. Rumor is that Shula has been considering giving up if he drops this pivotal matchup with Earl this week. That would be a disastrous decision as there is a lot of football left and with MT, James White, and DJ, he has enough to make the playoffs, where anything can happen.
8). Yo Adrians (2-5)
Hoober’s bargain hunting for waiver wire RBs with high upside and keeper value paid off. He resurfaced his draft day love of Marlon Mack and added him 2 weeks ago, then made the decision to start him this week, carrying the team to a win. Nick Chubb will be his keeper for next year and his health/performance is the main thing to watch going forward. This roster is capable enough to pull off the spoiler role against Shula/Earl/Ellis/Tom/Josh down the stretch as they are jockeying for seeding.
9). Prison Mike’s Riot Squad (1-6)
4 straight years without the playoffs for Justin, a BBC record. He did get a 2nd for Conner, which was a good move rather than tie himself to Conner as his only keeper option for next year. Perhaps the best part of that deal was the ability to keep Gurley for a 1st and a 4th, which would totally be worth it if Gurley is just as good next year. Justin could go into next year with Gurley, two 2nds, and a 3rd.
10). DUGE HICK (0-7)
Will Grant win a game this year? He best shot comes in Week 10 against Justin to avoid tying Shula’s record of 0-10 to start the season. Grant should’ve traded Howard after his week 3 game with 24 carries and a TD, but Grant didn’t and now he only has an extra 6 going into next year.
